Remembering Veterans Day

I read a column today that said that while Americans will fill the streets to honor sports teams who've just won a victory, veteran day parades are usually met with empty sidewalks. It is sad, but parades aren't the only way we're ignoring those who've served their country. In the Kansas City Star yesterday, a hospice nurse wrote of all the veterans who languish in hospitals and nursing homes. Sometimes they feel their service to their country meant little. Here's a link to the letter to the editor: http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/15974075.htm

Remember to never forget our veterans. If you run into one, thank them. Find them in hospitals and nursing homes and tell them they aren't forgotten.
